"Jesus viveu a sua vida como uma oferenda eucarística. A sua última refeição resumiu toda a sua vida oferecida e entregue por amor."

«Isto é o meu corpo. Isto é o meu sangue». Tudo se encontra aqui.

A Eucaristia revela-nos o amor que vai «até ao fim», um amor que não tem medida, que é força de ressurreição. Jesus Cristo deseja levar-nos por este caminho. «Assim como o Pai que me enviou vive e Eu vivo pelo Pai, também quem de verdade me come viverá por mim» (Jo 6, 57). Na comunhão do seu corpo e sangue, Cristo deseja estar profundamente unido a nós. Comunica-nos o seu Espírito Santo. Como escreve Santo Efrém, o Sírio: «Chamou ao pão seu corpo vivo, encheu-o de si mesmo e do seu Espírito (...). E quem o come com fé, come o Fogo e o Espírito (...). Tomai e comei-o todos e comei com o mesmo o Espírito Santo. É verdadeiramente o meu corpo e aquele que o come viverá eternamente». Pelo dom do seu corpo e do seu sangue, Cristo faz crescer em nós o dom do seu Espírito, que já recebemos durante o Batismo e que se nos oferece como «selo» no sacramento da Confirmação. Segundo João Paulo II, com a Eucaristia assimilamos, de certo modo, o «segredo» da ressurreição, uma ressurreição que começa hoje mesmo no coração do mundo.

Por que razão Jesus nos quer conceder este dom imenso de Ele próprio se nos comunicar, de nos comunicar o seu Espírito? Porque deseja que nos tornemos como Ele. Dá-nos a sua capacidade de amar, de oferecer as nossas vidas, com Ele, pelo reino de Deus, um novo mundo que já está em gestação.

É por isso que a Rede Mundial de Oração do Papa nos convida, a disponibilizarmo-nos em cada manhã para a missão de Cristo (EE 91-100). Mediante uma oração de oferecimento, dizemos a Jesus: «Aqui estou! Podes contar comigo!». Oferecer-me, cada manhã, para o serviço de Cristo significa acolher, cheios de gratidão, o dom gratuito do amor de Deus, significa responder a esse amor colocando a minha vida ao serviço do Reino, e fazê-lo apesar das minhas incoerências, limites e fragilidades. Mediante tal oferecimento, entro numa existência eucarística, numa vida entregue ao serviço do Senhor e dos outros, ao serviço da Igreja no mundo. Este oferecimento faz-me participar ativamente no propósito de amor de Deus pela humanidade.

Jesus viveu a sua vida como uma oferenda eucarística. A sua última refeição resumiu toda a sua vida oferecida e entregue por amor. Este caminho não o conduziu a um beco sem saída, mas à ressurreição e à vida em abundância. E esta vida de felicidade eterna desejaria Ele dá-la a cada um de nós. Por isso, Ele quer arrastar-nos na sua «dança de amor», mesmo que esta tenha de passar pela Cruz.

Jesus, Bread of Life 

Every time we receive you in the Eucharist, 

You come to give new meaning to our weaknesses

and You remind us how valuable we are in your eyes.

Through frequent participation of this sacrament, 

we unite more and more to you, 

and we assimilate to your way of living, 

your ability to break yourself when giving yourself

 to your brothers,

 and your ability to respond to evil with good. 

Give us the courage to look past ourselves 

and to bow down with love 

towards the weakness of others.

 Amen

Offering Prayer

Good Father, I know you are with me.

 Here I am on this new day. 

Place my heart once more

 next to the Heart of your Son Jesus,

 who is giving himself for me 

and who comes to me in the 

Eucharist. 

May your Holy Spirit make me his friend and apostle, 

available for his mission of compassion.

 I place in your hands my joys and hopes, 

my works and sufferings, everything that I am and have,

 in communion with my brothers and sisters of this 

Worldwide Prayer Network. 

With Mary, I offer you my day for the mission of the Church 

and for the prayer intentions of the Pope and my Bishop for 

this month.

Celebration of the Eucharist 

“We cannot forget the great number of Christians who, throughout the world and in two thousand years of history, have resisted to the death for the defense of the Eucharist; and how many, still today, risk their lives to participate in Sunday mass. 'Without Sunday we cannot live.' If we cannot celebrate the Eucharist, we cannot live and our Christian life would die." (Pope Francis).

Listen to the Word of God 

“The Word of God nourishes and renews our faith. Let us put it back at the center of our prayer and spiritual life! At the center is the Word that reveals to us what God is like, and it draws us close to Him.” (Pope Francis). 

Become aware of the reality that the Word of God is an essential part of prayer.

Sharing his life. 

“The Eucharist heals because it unites us with Jesus. It makes us assimilate to His way of life, His ability to break away and give Himself to His brothers and sisters, and His ability to respond to evil with good.It gives us the courage to get out of ourselves and to move with love towards the weakness of others as God does with us” (Pope Francis).
